Another few minutes passed before the girl finally responded again. Apparently quick replies were not one of her fortes.
"Fine. But only because it seems like the only way I'll be able to confront you privately. I trust your posse won't interfere in the fight."
Talon smirked as he spoke up to answer her immediately, “Look, I don’t even know some of these people, and the two who are my friends won’t get in the way. No need to be so paranoid; I’m not some sort of bad guy like you keep making me out to be. Anyway, let’s get this over with.”
He turned and began descending the steps down towards the arena, assuming that Angel would be following shortly. His fingers tapped on a few small keys on the device wrapped around his left wrist, adjusting his program set before the battle would officially begin. He felt confident with whatever weapons he had with him for most battles, but he needed to prove a point in this match.
Stepping into one of the rings, he gestured to the guy who was already standing inside waiting to fight him. ”Sorry, our match is going to be postponed for a bit. We’re borrowing this arena for a few minutes.”
Confused, but unwilling to protest, the student quickly stepped out, leaving Talon and Angel alone in the ring. His aqua-colored eyes stared expectantly at his new opponent, waiting to observe her first movements. It was time to see if she could live up to her big words.
”Ladies first. Let me see what ‘real fighting’ is.”

Angel drew in a small breath.
The ring.
He wanted to fight her in the ring!? In front of everyone? That was crazy! A murmur of confusion rippled through the crowd. Between the first competitor being told to leave and the display of match names now blank for their arena, every eye was drawn onto them.
She licked her lips.
Okay Angel. It's fine. You can do this. He's not special, he doesn't know what real combat is like. Focus on winning, not putting on a show.
She reached into her pocket, withdrawing a hairtie and slid a length of her hair into it, creating a ponytail. She then lifted her goggles from around her neck and slipped them into place. The lenses were already adjusting their tint for the amount of light in the arena. Angel interlaced her fingers together and stretched them high over her head, pulling every muscle into place. There was still a tinge of pain from her previous injury, but she'd have to push through it.
”Ladies first. Let me see what ‘real fighting’ is.”
This was the worst possible thing he could have said! Aikido, while a powerful art, was based on counterattacks. There were openings and attacks, of course, but they always made Angel nervous. She had very few cases where they would be useful in her life. She was either the one running, or she snuck up from behind to disable a target. Talon was neither chasing nor unaware.
Problems problems problems.
"Sure thing, sweetheart. Try to be gentle, though, I am a girl after all." She winked.
Then she ran. She ran her way up to full speed in less than five strides and charged straight at Talon. Suddenly she wished she had paid more attention to the fights. She had no idea what sort of style Talon used, but she knew that if she wanted a counterattack opening, she needed him to attack. And there was one sure-fire way to do that.
As she got within range, Angel raised a fist by her ear and threw it forward as hard as she could, leaning her entire weight and momentum into the blow. The heavy hit would use every bit of power her compact body could generate, aimed right for his chest. If all went well, he'd be in for a nasty surprise. More than likely, though, he'd fight back, and then she'd find her real opening.

"Sure thing, sweetheart. Try to be gentle, though, I am a girl after all."
Talon continued grinning as he cracked the knuckles on both of his hands. He could only hope that this girl would live up to the hype of this whole thing and put up a good fight. It would be a shame if it ended like his first two matches had.
He ignored the confuse glance of the man refereeing this particular ring and continued staring straight ahead at Angel, waiting to see her first movements. Besides, the deafening roars of the students in the stands who were looking forward to another Talon Sykes battle would keep the school officials from interfering if they didn’t want a riot on their hands. Institutions like this place just hated to see any type of chaos brewing within their own territory.
It was a good thing that Talon had been keeping an eye on his opponent, because the girl had chosen that exact moment to charge forward and barrel down towards him in a matter of seconds. Luckily for him, this girl was practically shouting out to everyone in the building what she planned to do next. Her action of bringing her fist back in order to build power and momentum wasn’t exactly ineffective, but it made her strike easily predictable. Earlier she had asked Talon if he had ever been in a real fight or thrown a real punch. Well, she was about to find out just how much real combat experience he had.
Just as the punch was being thrown, Talon quickly took a diagonal step forward, moving in towards the side of Angel opposite to the arm that she had just used to strike. This movement allowed him to simultaneously evade the attack and move right passed the girl’s guard, leaving only an inch or two of space between them.
Using the momentum of his diagonal movement, he raised his right leg and sent a curving knee strike towards Angel’s stomach, hoping to land an early, heavy attack on the girl. If she thought that she was the only one with martial arts experience, then she was going to be in a world of hurt in this match.

Expect the unexpected!
That wasn't one of her father's sayings, that was just good advice. As the momentum slammed into her soles and soared into her fist, Talon was gone. Slipped out to the diagonal, only inches away from her left side. If she hadn't spent her entire childhood with Aikido masters his sudden vanishing act might've been frightening.
But it wasn't. Good for her!
His knee rose quickly, aiming directly for her stomach. Fortunately he was using his opposite knee, which gave her the splittest of seconds to move. She jumped, presing from the gorund as hard as she could. It only gave her three inches of air, but it was enough. The knee collided into her, slightly softened from her jump. Air was pushed out of her stomach and lungs, and the pain clawed at her skin, but she held onto her focus. Held onto it with all her might.
She reached out with her arms, wrapping them around Talon's knee. Once her feet found the ground, she leaned backwards, rolling onto her back, trying to hold onto Talon. She twisted his leg hard, pulling his hip and twisting his entire torso, trying to aim his head directly at the ground.
The most powerful blow you could deliver was one from the planet itself!

Talon felt the satisfaction of his knew colliding with his opponent’s stomach, but he had not been expecting her to have such quick reflexes. She had already jumped by the time his strike had connected with her body, and she used the chance to bind his leg with her arms. He already had a pretty good idea of what she planned to do once they reached the floor again, and his mind quickly analyzed what the best course of action for him to take would be.
As Angel rolled backwards and attempted to use brute force to send his head crashing into the solid ground, he reached out with his left hand and let his palm slam into the floor, preventing his body from being smashed into the ground and keeping himself raised in the air in a half-handstand.
Knowing that his caught leg would still be a problem, he reached out his free right hand and grabbed hold of Angel’s arm, using his ability program to release a quick and light jolt of electricity into her skin, forcing her muscles to temporarily retract and free his leg from her iron grip. He then nimbly pushed off of the ground and flipped himself back onto his feet like nothing had ever happened.
The only problem was that something had happened, and right now his left hand hurt like hell. Even with his daily physical conditioning to strengthen his body to its maximum potential, the force of propping up his entire body to avoid being thrown into the ground had all been focused on his palm and wrist. Talon was lucky that none of his bones had snapped, but the intense pain would keep him from using that poor left hand for a while anyway. Damn, this girl had better instincts than he had given her credit for. But if she continued to underestimate him, she would be sorry.
His thin, but deadly rapier materialized in his uninjured right hand, and he gripped the metal hilt tightly, executing a couple quick practice slashes through the empty air in front of him.
”Not bad girl, but don’t get ahead of yourself. I won’t go down that easily.”

Eniac watched with amazement at the first seconds of the match. Everything moved so fast and so fluid! Eniac's eyes lit up at watching these two go head to head. "Wow, Kaitetsu! I've never seen two people fight so well! Talon is much better than he led us to believe!"
Saying this made Eniac think. He's alot better than he led us to believe. These skills are that of an expert. Since Eniac is a calculating individual, he keeps all his memories tucked into a safe place in his brain for easy access. Eniac's mind began racing through his memories, and he remembered something his friend said to them long ago.
"The name’s Talon Sykes, third year student at UEC and yet I’m still barely able to keep up with the minimum standards of a novice Programmer at the tournaments, hehe."
Talon had stated that he was barely good enough to be a beginner. How curious... Eniac decided he would ask Talon about this later, but for now, he just wanted to enjoy the show!

Graah!
This was why she hated holo-comps. Nothing made sense! Years upon years of Aikido training could never prepare her for the possibility of Talon having an electro-shocky-touch. She was both startled and infuriated when her hands involuntarily released their grip around his leg.
Angel threw herself along the ground, rolling away from Talon for several feet before rising to a low crouch. She hated feeling helpless, hated not knowing what Talon could do until he did it. She remained in her crouch, poised like a hungry puma. Talon straightened himself out, a rapier appearing in his hand.
"Not bad girl, but don’t get ahead of yourself. I won’t go down that easily."
She gritted her teeth. The worst part of having been thrown aside was that now she was going to have to start over again, to re-establish a connection. Now that he was using a sword, it was going to be difficult to get close enough to grab him again.
"You're not bad for a holo-dependent baby, either. But I don't think your luck, or your zappy-hands, are going to save yo forever." Angel straightened up and outstretched her right hand. A streak of light flashed across her hand, and the kaku-bo appeared. She gripped it firmly, spinning it in windmills on either side of her body as a display of her proficiency of the weapon.
Then she attacked.
She choked up high on one end of the staff swept it across at Talon's stomach height from her right side to her left. The staff had about double the range of the rapier and she hoped that by sweeping it she'd prevent any attempt to strike towards her.
"Of course you'd use a sissy sword..." She muttered to herself.

Talon continued to smirk, satisfied with the way things were unfolding. He wasn’t surprised at all when Angel materialized a long wooden staff; any fighter with a brain would know that trying to attack him unarmed would be suicide now that he was wielding a blade.
His eyes traced the movements of the incoming staff strike, and a quick downward slash of his sword knocked the attack away from his body and left a large recess in the edge of the staff. This kind of strike would have easily sliced the staff in half if Talon had been wielding it with both hands, but he was obviously limited to his right hand at the moment.
After deflecting and damaging the staff, he quickly stepped backwards and flourished his weapon again, remaining in a defensive stance. It was clear that this girl had high proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, especially when someone attacked her first. He knew that he could take away that advantage if he forced her to come after him instead. Plus, it would buy some time for his hand to recover a bit and at least be usable again.

No one had payed attention to her fight. Good. No one had seen her move, seen her fight.. that was a good thing. Although that show of acrobacy earlier must have escaped only a few. Dammit. Oh well, she'd have to live with it, as her head turned away from the screen for a moment. And her lips curved into a gentle smile at the male whom had talked to her. Kaiketsu. She felt almost lovely after her thanked her, a small blush on her face. ''No problem!'' she said, waking up from her semi doze. She forgot how exhausting actually fighting could be, her eyes blinking, and she yawned. ''I'm Rosalind.'' she offered, before sinking back again, looking at the fight between Talon and that girl. Loudmouth, sure, but no denying she had skills. The girl watched them both, and made a note to go get some martial arts training. It would improve her strength and speed, probably her flexibility too, not that she didn't already have a lot of these skills. Her eyes were caught in the screen, her mouth muttering word. Talon Sykes.. she had a feeling something was off, but still now, she couldn't put her finger on it. The girl starred intensely, almost wishing she'd trained her eyes better to pick up movements.. spend some time memorizing. Yes. The girl was already planning out her weekend trip and this was going to move fast. The more she hung around, the more she learned about what she'd need in order to be able to do good. Even though she hated all of this, she loved it.. and wanted to be damn good at it. Her head leaned to the side, touching the shoulder of the male beside her, as that gaze was still lost in the screen.

Kaiketsu had continued to sit where he had been before Talon had gone out to start this fight. His eyes rested intently on the screen as he watched the battle taking place. He couldn’t help but also find that curiosity that Eniac was starting to show... Talon did seem to show greater skills that he gave credit for, but could that have just been the humbleness of a fighter like Talon? Kaiketsu couldn’t answer that at this time. He was even more impressed as he continued to watch this fight take place and soon a sound caught his attention again, the girl whom he had thanked was still in his line of sight.
''No problem!'' ''I'm Rosalind.''
Kaiketsu turned his attention to the girl, noticing that she had leaned against him as well shortly after she had finished saying her very brief sentences. He glanced aside again, a small feeling of warmth barely rising in his face. “Kaiketsu.” He simply replied with that, his mouth feeling the cringe of the bruise he received. After that moment, he returned to resting the ice on his cheek. It had been a long time since he had recieved that sort of feeling, he had almost forgotten what it had felt like... He could only remember the time that it happened back at home. He didn’t wish to think of it though, and thus he distracted himself by once more watching Talon.
Kaiketsu couldn’t believe that Talon was just below average anymore. These skills were much more of at least an intermediate in the holo-comp world. He sighed, leaning back a bit more in his chair, curiosity was now overwhelming in his mind... There was something sort of... interesting about Talon. Something that Kaiketsu felt he should recognize, but couldn’t at all. He only shrugged his shoulder, forgetting that Rosalinds head was rested on it. He was more curious of Talon now... He’d have to ask him the next time they spoke.

Grr!
Stupid holographic weapons! Swords that never grew dull, and a resiliency that would have been impossible in the real world. A rapier's steel was supposed to be flexible, it should've bounced right off of the staff. But no, not in holo-land. In holo-land, the blade gashed the end of her staff.
Angel glared as he flourished. What was he, a peacock?
"You’re pretty quick to go around accusing me of being lucky. You have no right to say anything unless you can actually beat me."
It would be easier to beat him if he stopped running away. But while cowardly on the exterior, it was her exact weakness. Somehow he had determined that her speciality lay in both close combat and in counter-attacks...how had he figure all of that out from only two attacks? Maybe her opponent was a lot more skilled than she thought. Or hoped.
She slid the staff to the center, holding it in both hands at shoulder-width apart, leaving equal lengths of the staff on either side. Then she lowered it to the level of her knees, letting it hang.
"If running away is your 'skill' then I guess you're not lucky."
Ugh, that was horrible too. She really needed to work on her insults.
Angel charged forward, keeping the staff low and horizontal across her body. As she got closer, she scooped the staff upward and shoved it horizontally towards Talon. The goal here wasn't to hit him with the staff; the scooping motion and the horizontal positioning was meant to clear away his sword, drive any thrusting motions upward and away from her body. It was the opening to the real attack.
WINGS 1: BOOST
Her ability program snapped into action. For the next three seconds, all of her fast-twitch muscles would be boosted, meaning speed and strength were both temporarily heightened. While holding the staff in front of her, she used the increased power to snap a kick towards right knee, hoping to catch it on the side and snap it out of position. She had been moving at top speed before and was hoping this newfound speed would throw off his timing and allow to land the strike.

Talon blinked a few times as he watched Angel change her grip on the staff and lower herself into a different stance. Apparently she still planned to fight with the same weapon, a move that he found to be incredibly foolish. It was clear that the girl was better fighting with her body than a weapon, and as long as he still had his blade, that wooden stick wouldn’t be getting anywhere near him.
"If running away is your 'skill' then I guess you're not lucky."
Ignoring the girl’s pathetic excuse for a comeback, Talon gripped his weapon tightly and watched as his opponent charged towards him. Wanting to finish off the staff once and for all this time, he gripped the blade’s hilt with both hands, temporarily ignoring the sharp pain that shot through his injured left hand. As the staff came closer to him, he executed a strong downward slash with the sword, the thin and incredibly sharp blade slicing through the wooden weapon.
It was at this moment that the girl suddenly seemed to speed up all of a sudden as she sent a lightning-fast kick towards his leg. Since his hands and the rapier were still moving rapidly downward after cutting through the girl’s staff, he simply shifted the direction a few centimeters to the side in order to intercept the incoming foot. Her kick struck the hilt of his weapon, weakening Talon’s grip on the sword and sending it skidding across the floor of the arena, several yards from where they were standing. He quickly jumped backwards, clutching his left hand that was now throbbing in pain.
“You used an ability program that gives you a little speed boost, huh? So much for your little speech about fighting naturally without the use of technology.”
The rapier on the floor dissolved into nothingness as Talon switched over to his second weapon program. A long metal chain appeared in his hands with a menacing bladed sickle attached to one end and a small weight to use as a handle on the other end. Using his free right hand, Talon began spinning the chain rapidly, the sickle on the end flying in circles in the air above his head.
A moment later he had flicked his wrist forward, sending the chain and blade in Angel’s direction, curving around towards the left side of her body. Even if the blade was not able to connect with her, he hoped to at least get the chain to make contact with her in an attempt to snare any part of her body. Then there would be countless ways for him to finally finish this pointless battle.

Angel almost dropped her jaw straight to the floor. She had severely underestimated the skill of her opponent and of the properties of holographic weaponry. Her attack seemed to be going off without a hitch, but Talon's blade split the staff into two even sections. Angel's arms fell to her side, each hand holding half of a weapon. This didn't throw off the timing of her kick, however, and she snapped it as hard as she could.
But Talon was still too quick. His sword hilt drove down and intercepted her kick. The base of the hilt struck the sole of her shoe, and the thin sword went flying from his grasp. Angel swung with one of the halves of the staff at Talon's head, but he had already moved backward out of range, clutching his hand.
Quick quick quick. He was just too quick! But in an odd sort of way, Angel was winning. Or at least that was what she told herself. Sure Talon had shocked her once, but that had been fleeting damage. Imaginary damage, pain that was transmitted to her body through the holo-comp. The bruise on his hand was very real.
“You used an ability program that gives you a little speed boost, huh? So much for your little speech about fighting naturally without the use of technology.”
Hmph, like that mattered now! She had already been using holographic weaponry, what did it matter if she used the abilities too? It wasn't like the two of them were going toe to toe in the real world. Angel steeled herself, raising the two halves of the staff in each hand like a pair of wooden swords, waiting for his next move. Would he regenerate is sword? No, a new weapon appeared: a chain with a sinister blade attached to its end. Talon was working on retrieving his command of range again.
A hundred different paths opened in Angel's mind, a hundred different ways to dodge and to counter-attack. But something tickled at the back of her mind.
So much for your little speech about fighting naturally, without the use of technology.
Of course.
Talon flicked the blade towards her, the circle approaching from her left side. Angel released her staff-halves and began running straight at Talon, her powerful legs pushing against the earth like pistons in a car, each step lurching her forward. The chain grew closer and closer, and would have definitely wrapped around her waist and ensnared her.
If she hadn't turned off her holo-comp.
The aura washed away from her body and she was now free. The holographic weapon had no field to interact with and passed harmlessly through her body. Angel spared herself a smile as she leapt into the air, jumping as if she were trying to clear a wide gap in her free-running. Her yellow hair streamed behind her, the light catching in a glint of her goggles, her body calm and poised. She aimed herself carefully, preparing to unleash a devastating flying-kick into Talon's chest.
Cheating? Probably. Heck, they might send people into the arena to drag her out after this. But she was going to make her point to this monoculared-jerk-face, no matter what the cost.

He had given her his name, officially now. A little part of the girl squeeled delighted, as she let her lips curve into the faintest of smiles. The shrug jolted her out of that half realm, and she blinked. Uh? Then she noted the fight. Her body suddenly propped up, as she gave an angry glare. ''Who gave those idiots the right to fight like that!'' she exclaimed, forgetting that it was her own suggestion. That sort of fightning was distasteful, it was just fighting! No beauty, no point, no ulterior goal except pound the other's face in, as the blue haired girl charged off. She was going to stop this! But she stopped suddenly, blinking, as she held onto the frame for support. Her eyes went to Kaiketsu, almost surprised, until they slid shut. Ok. She had to fight this! She was Rosalind, she had gotten through three matches! She could do this. ''ok never.. mind that plan.'' she managed to say weakly, before sighing, and slipping to the ground, unable to move now. Just a couple minutes.. just a couple and she'd be fine. Yeah...

Talon’s aqua eyes narrowed as he watched his chain and sickle fly harmlessly through his opponent’s body. His gaze had hardened into a look of determination mixed with a tiny bit of anger and a touch of reluctant respect. His moves had been flawless and had been about to earn him the victory when this girl decided to pull a fast one on him and shut down her holo-comp a second before his attack had connected.
He smirked and watched as Angel ran towards him, leaping into the air to prepare for an aerial kick aimed at him. He had to admit that he was slightly impressed. This girl was good, but not quite good enough to execute this type of plan against him. He wasn’t about to let that happen.
Talon leaned on his left foot, putting most of his weight on that side of his body. He then lifted up his right leg and snapped it towards the airborne girl, aiming the rapid kick towards her lower abdomen. Angel’s move had certainly been surprising and probably would have finished off most of the students in this school, but Talon Sykes wasn’t just an average student like most people had come to believe.
The brown-haired teen was at least eight inches taller than his opponent, possibly more, and it was clearly visible in his legs. This huge difference allowed Talon’s kick to connect far before the girl’s foot could touch his chest, a crushing blow that would most likely send Angel sprawling down to the floor and knocking the wind out of her, if not more.
If his opponent wanted to fight without any weapons or technology, then Talon would be more than happy to answer the challenge.
