Yume jerked to a halt and actually tried to move forward a few steps before realizing Takai had firmly planted himself and denied the glory that was a purikura machine. Utter, complete, blasphemy. Though, considering it was Takai, she probably should have expected such and simply tricked him into getting inside. The very thought of that made her almost break out with a small sly grin. Her own thoughts were broken, however, when Takai began pulling in a separate direction which caused her to stumble a little along behind him before she could right herself. She continued the rather awkward partially stumbling walk still attached to Takai till he stopped for a moment and she could recover, a bit peeved at having been dragged.
Of course, she hardly could even begin to voice anything before Takai changed course, claimed something about an H.C. Tournament, and began to pull her in a different direction. She managed to stay upright, despite having to take about two steps to his one. "What tournament?" she asked, rather curious as she usually kept track of H.C. tournaments. They were pretty much the only place she could act more like a child and a pyromaniac. Now if only she could figure out how to program a proper explosion.

And just like that he had her attention. "It's not your typical tournament." He led her, more gently now that he had her interest and didn't need to pull, to one of the unmarked black tables that wasn't currently in use. "See..it's kinda what you'd call a 'micro' battle tournament. It's a different way of battling that's becoming popular particularly among the really young or really old H.C. crowd who either can't fight a physical battle or don't like mono a mono combat. You build a basic army around a unit type and are allowed to support it with one ability. The objective is either to destroy all of your opponents units, or capture their 'base'. Basically it's a tournament designed for strategy rather than the colliseum like matches of the official tournaments. You plug in your comp to the table and the table displays all your moves in a contained digital battlefield. I was still tuning a program I made for this and I didn't have time to perfect their ability though I'm pretty sure I could've placed easily with the lack of imagination the average kid has these days.Doesn't matter now though, I missed registration, so all we can do is watch." He pointed to a nearby table where a battle had begun. The table was projecting a holo image of two armies of swordsmen clashing in what looked to be a deadlock, the only difference between them was one army used a single sword and the other set dual wielded.
"See what I mean?I'll bet both of them set their ability to something silly too." He sighed and sat in the chair next to the table. "I kinda wanted to win the cash prize and free limited edition junk too.

Yume listed for a few seconds, till she decided it sounded way too boring and began tuning out Takai's description. Not that she'd let it show she was ignoring most of what he was saying. She simply treated him like most of her tutors, making it look like she was paying attention while her mind was wandering.
She grabbed a seat when he did, taking the empty chair from a nearby table while shooting the cutest look she could over her shoulder to stop them mid complaint from taking a chair that was clearly in use. Yume scooted up close to Takai, using his shoulder as a not quite soft enough pillow. "Why bother? You said so yourself that you'd probably have won, so why go through the trouble of playing people who are really bad. You'd just get bored. Besides, things are only 'limited edition' if the supplier only sends out a few. Doesn't mean they can't make more, for the right price." Such titles were meaningless to her, everything could be bought for the right price in the world, people were just plain greedy.

Takai sighed as he lazily looked at yume somewhat disappointed he hadn't caught her interest. Getting her hooked on the hobby could've been an excuse to hang out with her more....wait...why was his fishing for an excuse to hang out with her anyway? She was spoiled, annoying, selfish,wasteful.....and hot.....He shook his head. Hot didn't excuse all her faults she wasn't THAT hot.
"You just don't get it, if you paid them off to make more then the meaning in 'limited edition' is gone. Besides there's something special about earning things yourself....Ah well, I guess someone like you wouldn't understand." he realized and let the subject go.

Counting through her cash as she made her way blindly back through the arcade, Rose grinned wildly. Money, money, and more money. Of course the first two bills had gone toward a large amount of cancer sticks, but that still left a whole wad of cash fanning crisp air in to her face.
Funny thing about money... it opens all doors, including the door that led to more money, and as she paused momentarily, she looked over the arcade, considering her best chances.
Her eyes rested on a table, and a slow grin touched her lips. Bets, were almost always lucrative. Slowly, she looked from competitor to competitor, summing them up, before she looked at their pieces. She didn't quite understand the game, but then again she didn't have to. She only had to take bets.
Stepping toward the table, and wedging herself in with the watchers, she observed the game for a long moment, watching the stand still.
"My bet's on the dual swords." She stated loudly, standing while most of the others sat, raising her voice authoritively to ensure that she'd draw all the attention she needed. "Anyone care to challenge it?"

Yume glanced up at Takai, a slightly cross expression on her face though she resisted the urge to hit him. She settled on just poking him in the side. "I'll have you know I understand just fine. While you can't join the tournament, you can probably still make money if you wanted." she was about to suggest placing bets if he really wanted money when rose declared her bid. Normally Yume would have just offered him some of her own 'pocket change' but Takai wouldn't like handouts. At least, not if he was going to stick to his words.
She pointed with one very well manicured and cared for finger towards Rose. "Why not take her up on the bet, if you win you get money." Rather then wait for his response, Yume simply watched the tournament matches, no real noticeable interest in her expression. It seemed kind of dull, yes it was like a new version of chess and would rely on strategy, but there wasn't anything the player physically did. No "real" sense of self accomplishment in her mind.

"For once...you had a idea I agree with." He replied and stood to meet the new girls challenge. "I'll take that bet." he knew the game well enough to know the good part hadn't come yet. "So how much we betting on this thing?" (Bleh post)

Rose grinned broadly. And she had a taker. Tilting her head at him, she placed one hand on her hip, grin broadening.
"Now, my handsome young lad, that's up to you." She lifted up the wad of cash, giving it a small swish to accentuate how much was there, before she placed that hand on her hip as well. "You see, I've all this money, and no where to spend it, mi'boy. Mayhaps you'd best bet high?"

Bet high huh? Too easy. "Alright..I'll match however much you got." he looked over at the two players controlling the two warring armies he recognized the one his bet now rested on and if memory served...
A holographic icon appeared over the table "Ability Activated" The dual swordsmen got their ability first, not surprising they were dualing in mindless melee here a twin sword setup worked slightly better, without missing a beat the ability activated It was perhaps even less imaginative than their design, flaming swords enabling them to ignite things they hit. Whoopdie doo. At least that was Takai's opinion. But it was having surprising effect on the battlefield, the burning spread quickly and it looked like he might lose his bet. But he didn't seem bothered, the other side's ability still hadn't kicked in yet...

Rose grinned wickedly, looking back toward the table, and following it's progress before she shifted in to movement, making her way toward the player who controlled the men with only one sword. Placing a hand on his shoulder, she leaned over him, watching the movements of the smaller men, fire spreading reassuringly, though she doubted it would be enough to take the game. Both players were horribly unimaginative. It was just a matter of who got what hit in. Luck... and a touch of something else.
"Aren't you going to do something?" She cooed questioningly, turning her head slightly so her breath puffed warmly against the poor boys cheek. "Your opponant seems to be walking all over you!"
Steadfastly ignoring her, the boy leaned closer to the game, shrugging her hand off his shoulder, though she surged forward again, laughing.
"Don't be bitter." She pressed, adjusting herself so that she could rest by his side, hip almost touching the table. "I always vote for the um... -under-, dog. You can't not have this under control." She tilted her head, "Can you?"

Takai frowned, he could've called her cheating since she was interferring directly with his player's ability to fight, but from what he remembered it wouldn't matter soon enough.
Sure enough his ability kicked in "Ability Activated"
Takai grinned.
The second ability was more immediately impressive, A holographic golem appeared on the battlefield and began decimating the opposing army. Takai was visibly surprised "Guardian ability?"
The guardian creature was un-phased by the flames and clearly superior to the normal troops. It was over pretty quickly after that.
"Well....tough break there.Guardian trumps enhancement it seems...Though I admit that one was definitely better than most."

Rose pursed her lips in a surprised scowl. Sometimes, she supposed, automatic programming functions just fine without a comprehensive control system. Sighing, she shook her head, and moved away from the boy, rolling her eyes at the muffled sounds of confusion coming from behind her.
"Good bet, lad." Shle stated matter of factly, lifting the cash as though to hand it to him, though she didn't offer it just yet, "Albeit less than satisfying. What do you say to double or nothing?" She cocked her head just a bit to the side, grinning as though she were nothing more than a shedevil in disguise. "You could probably buy some nice programs with this... but with double it, what could you do?"

"But you don't have double." he reminded her. "If you lose again what's in it for me to make sure I get what I'm owed?" he knew he had her on his hook, now to reel her in and see what he could get out of her. "I can't really collect what you don't have so......what exactly would you plan to use as payment?" For a moment he forgot about Yume and that was probably a mistake....but he had a potential new toy in front of him. Maybe he'd make her wear a maid outfit after she lost. Life as a servant for awhile till she paid off the debt wasn't a bad idea....of course he still had to make sure the contest was one he could.....no would win.

"I have ways of making money." Rose stated fluidly. She was familiar with this song and dance, though it was different for everyone, and she vaguely wondered what this one's price would be. It didn't matter so much, really... she'd heard it all. Everything from house work to bed work had been suggested-- of course she did none of it. She didn't need to. What gambles she lost were often made up for by gambles that could be won. "Otherwise I wouldn't have that much." She paused, letting her emerald eyes follow the boy who'd won as he wandered off to claim his winnings. She offered him a wink, grinning wickedly as he turned awkwardly away, and she shook her head. Leaning her elbow against the table, and then her body on her elbow, she looked back toward Takai.
"Though I am curious as to what you have in mind." No point in lying. The moment one's bluff is actually a bluff is the moment one looses the game. "May as well state your terms now, before I find a gloriously exploitable loophole again. Not that anyone can say that I won't." She shrugged ever so slightly. "There's always at least one."

"Well the rules are simple, we'll fight a normal battle. Winner take all. If you win the cash is yours, if I win I take the cash, and you'll work for me until you pay off your debt." Takai's hobby of indebting people to him wasn't a new one, well it might've been new to yume. But he'd found it quite useful to have people who owed you things, and gradually he learned how to get more than just money out of debts. Though only very recently had making debters servants been added to that list. It was fun to see how much they'd tolerate before they quit and he eventually had to call in the family to 'collect' his debt...assuming they quit of course. Some didn't and had been rewarded for their tolerance.
